It takes a lot of experience for a girl to kiss like a beginner.

Idleness can be heavenly and so can hard yard work- especially if one can then wash up and be idle with a great book. Tuesday evening we saw the Flying Dutchman… well not literally along the coast but at Keller auditorium. The production was stellar even though one can’t really get involved with the somnambulist Dutchman and his obsessed salvation Senta. But the voices were grand and since this  is only my second wager opera I cant offer a really informed opinion. Nothing beats the overture to Tristan and Isolde, the most romantic and maybe even orgasm causing music ever written. However I must also confess that it lacks the compelling interest in character that Tosca or Carmen evoke.

Then yesterday click and clack came over to help me with the yard changes I can’t do alone. So I started with hauling an entire albeit cut up alder tree from J’s property to ours. To use as kindling but most importantly, sections of the main trunk will make a fantastic rustic bench for the front yard. They moved the large prostrate blue juniper to the front yard. Relocated a cotoneaster near the garage, moved many small nandinas that had grown up near their parents, planted a 7 feet styrax and underneath it some matting miniature hydrangeas. Then I leveled the flagstones  in the courtyard, planted moss in the seams and got some delphinium and violet seeds going.

With the addition of some privacy fencing and a gingko tree the front yard planting will be done for this spring.

Today they are hammering up a significant portion  of the backyard concrete for plantings along the fence and also making room for some large trees back there.  Next on the agenda is some electricity outside in the front so I can get a small water feature to block out some of the noises of my neighbors constant comings and goings.  K and S are coming over for dinner. Long overdue and I may do the easy poached salmon and Israeli couscous because there it is super simple and also posh looking, especially with fresh fennel.

Friday we start the hunt for the ideal male gingko…………yahoo!!

No smears - mess me up
