rachel (my young summer roommate) and I had a nice long talk about life and relationships and finding your niche and the delicate balance of being within a community environment and being always true to yourself. She goes back to Birmingham in a few weeks and I will miss her. Her husband left this morning and my empathy for her got me in touch my own sadness that Jim isn't living here full time yet. And we both allowed for the feelings while still cringing that others REALLY have it bad so why were we complaining. Being with these two young people this summer has been a gift in terms of company, feelings that I am helping someone, seeing a young marriage unfold as well and warmly as mine did and just having the kick of meeting two such interesting creative, funny and charming people. Things have a way of working out the way they are supposed to ... don't you think?
