Blogging has taken a back seat to the closet installation, bronzing cheap silver picture frames, looking for a white shirt I have lost and reading the First Casualty. The closet is the most satisfying and the first casualty is the most unsettling. Certainly one has always understood the bias of the press and ho w badly they fulfill their mission ( well what I believe their mission to be) but who knew how long standing and pernicious it has been. This books takes you from the Crimean war through the  civil war up through Iraq and shows you the presses mission in fostering war and aiding government in their agenda. Partly it is due to idealism as with the Spanish Civil war but other times it is expediency and laziness where a reporter stays in a paris bar drinking with chums and fabricates front line stories which are accepted because the article will sell papers. It’s a very pessimistic view and is a must read for anyone who believes what they read in the news or see on TV.  

 

 

Now my closet is completely verifiable, I have the receipt, anyone who doesn’t smoke or wear heavy perfume can come and see it or you can simple view these photos or take my word for it. It’s arranged the way I get dressed and I think I might be found in there on a grey day just marveling. Who wouldn’t want to stay in the closet?

 

And this morning the fog was so thick I couldn’t see the house across the street. A dizzying delicious feeling, as though I am the only one  on earth and this island of a home protected by the cloud of cool mist. Sandburg’s little cat feet  is what this is, and it not only takes away the views but muffles the sounds, surrounding us in nature’s cotton batting.

The fog comes
on little cat feet.

It sits looking
over harbor and city
on silent haunches
and then moves on.

 

Do I dare go out? I wanted to make a laundry center like the one I saw for $225, and maybe buy shelf dividers but maybe the mist is telling me to stay put , enjoy the  aloneness of the world and throw marbles across the hard wood floors for abi is chase.
