short people got lots of reason to live
all right, those who read my blog know I am short. My kitchen even has a special nook created for the rolling step stool I must use to get anything from the third shelf up in my cabinets. But it really sucks when trying to buy a car. yesterday was our first trip looking. hondas and toyotas to begin with. We started with a prius. I get into one and I am Michael Dukakis in an armored tank. a tiny slit out the back from which to make sure you are not running over your neighbors dog. NO way. what good is reducing the carbon foot print when I am ramming into things every time I try to start or park my car?
So we switch to the Camry and Corolla. HA. The old camrys had a sedan volvo sorta look which I loved but now they have these fat butts in order to give you some trunk space and I can't even see the back of the car. The Hondas were worse. I could neither see the hood or the rear. and the asshole salesman is telling me how his mother sits on a pillow. right. We get into a Honda CRV which finally lets me see out the back and the front but it gets 19 miles a gallon, this is going too far in my estimation.
and then what? right next to the honda dealer is an infiniti dealer. so ask to look. and I see something with an M in front of a number and I am madly in love. black leather interior. wood trim. Memory buttons to remember all the settings for me and another button to remember all the setting for Jim and it has GPS. I am madly in love and the salesman sees this and my husband is cringing. Jim whispers "you are throwing away all bargaining power because he knows you love it." ahhhhhhh but he is wrong there. I am a grown up. I can absolutely adore a car and completely walk away from it if they won't sell it to me at the price i want. Yes absolutely walk away. I read consumer's report I know how much money we have and I can be as hard as nails because as much as the M class car makes my heart twitter it's still an f'ing car. and I am not 16 years old.
But infiniti got added to the list if someone will sell us 2007 or 2008 with low miles for 25,000. and the subaru outback is still on the list as long as it's got the amenities that make it a good car for long trips. and then we will add the Acura and Avalon as Jim has finally figured out that one bare bones car is enough and our second car has to have some comfort and not smell like a boys locker room and have a radio you can hear while on the highway.
you agree right?
